Lead follow-up messages for coaches
Lead follow-up is the short series a coach sends when a lead goes quiet after a consult or an enquiry.
What goes in it
The first message, around day three, brings one useful thing such as a client result or a resource. The second, around day seven, takes a different angle on their goal. The third, around day fourteen, closes politely and leaves the door open.
Each message under 80 words.
- 1
Follow-up 1, day 3
The most useful of the three: one concrete client result or tip from your notes, and the same easy question. Under 80 words.
- 2
Follow-up 2, day 7
A different angle on their goal than the first message took. Under 80 words.
- 3
Follow-up 3, day 14
A polite close: you will stop writing, and how to reach you when they are ready. Under 60 words.
When to send it
When to send it
- Three days after a consult with no reply.
- After a lead asked about prices and went quiet.
- When a past enquiry is worth one more honest try.
Common mistakes
- Sending 'just checking in' with nothing new.
- Adding pressure or a deadline that is not real.
- Never closing, so the lead feels chased.
Why it works
Belkins' data on 7.5M B2B emails attributes most replies to follow-ups rather than the first email, with the first follow-up carrying the peak reply rate.

Let Fen write it
- 1
Bring the client's record
Their intake, check-ins and messages, pasted, dropped or imported into that client's record.
- 2
It can't make up a number
Every weight, date and figure Fen writes is checked against the client's own words, and a load or macro target is computed from your rules. One with no source is flagged, never guessed.
- 3
You decide what goes out
At default settings nothing reaches a client until you press. Email replies go out from your own Gmail when you press Approve and send.
Questions
- How many times should I follow up with a lead?
- Three is a good default: something useful, a new angle, then a polite close. After that, stop and leave the door open.
- Does Fenlio send the follow-ups?
- No. Each one is written for you to approve. Email goes out from your own Gmail only when you press Approve and send.
